Kyle's Birthday Party (3/22/09)

Wednesday, March 18th was Kyle's 8th birthday. Today was the celebration at his house. Unfortunately the weather was not as nice as it was yesterday. All the children still had fun playing outside. It was too chilly for me. I stayed indoors. Shocked, arent you?!

We had tacos, fruit kabobs, veggies, and tortilla chips for supper. Kyle's birthday cake was gluten-free. Lisa found a gluten-free bakery in Delafield. He loved it! He came in the kitchen and grabbed a second piece to take to the basement.

Scheuers visiting Scheuers (3/21/09)

There was no school on Friday. The kids and I spent most of the day cleaning around the house. The kids did have their friend, Mark, over for a couple hours. We watched Marquette win in a nail-biter...Go Golden Eagles! The kids played football outside, video games downstairs, and computer games in the living room. We had a quick supper and went to Mount Olive for Game Night. Have you ever played the game, Buzz Word? The adults (as well as Logan and Brett) played it. We had such a good time! Jim left early to watch the final episode of Battlestar Galactica with Peter & Felicia. When the kids and I got home, Brett and Katherine went to bed. Logan and I watched the Wisconsin Badgers play their NCAA tourney game. Jim got back in time to watch them win in O.T....Go Badgers!!

Saturday, we got some more work done around here. Logan cleaned up outside. Stephen & Heather, Isaiah, Ben, and Elsiana came over around 3:00 P.M. The weather was so nice. The boys took Lucy for a walk with our children. I think they like coming here just to visit Lucy!

We drove to Hawthorne Glen...went on a little nature walk and played kickball. When we got back, the kids played basketball. Jim mad his famous chili for supper. I made cornbread muffins and a loaf of bread. Heather made a couple delicious desserts. The adults played CatchPhrase, while Logan and Isaiah played Tanks and the others played basketball. Our children get along so well together! It was a very nice day!

2007 (3/16/09)

Newest Member of the Scheuer Family!

After almost seven years and over 80,000 miles, we bid farewell to our old van. This is the second-longest owned vehicle we've ever had. She served us well on many trips around Wisconsin and places as far away as Washington D.C. and Louisville. On Monday night, after much research, soul-searching, and numerous test drives, we bought our sage (I kid you not, that's the color's name) 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan!
It has less than 30,000 miles!

Look at the stow-away seats! Not only are these great for hauling items, but it gives us a great place to put quarrelsome kids!

Ah...sage! We would have preferred a dark blue, but the van in that color had too many issues.

The headlights came standard with the vehicle.

The kids had a choice: captain's chairs with no DVD player, or a DVD player with the same two bench seats as the old van. They opted for their own individual seats (except Brett, who really wanted the DVD player).

We love the sliding doors on BOTH sides of the van. I know it's nothing new, but to us it is COOOOOOOOL!

Brett's Saxophone Solo (3/14/09)

Solo Ensemble at Martin Luther High School

Brett takes the GOLD!!! On Saturday, Brett performed his class C solo (Allegro from Concerto Grosso, Op. 3, No. 4, by George F. Handel) and earned a score of 1! He had trouble in the beginning with some squeeking. The judge said that it was because Brett needed a new reed. Brett should work on positioning the reed better. The judge was impressed with his fingering, and that he got all the notes correct. The judge was also pleased with how well Brett did with the piece after the squeeks. Brett stuck around to see his cousin Cyrus and his friend Karl both get a 1, too. Brett actually went in with each of them and applauded at the end of each of their solos!

Sunday Activities (3/8/09)

It rained heavily this morning and this afternoon. Oh the rain, rain, rain! It made for a dreary day, and what does one do on a dreary day? We worshipped at Mount Olive...listened to beautiful music. Pastor did a good job getting through a certain song. I'm glad he didn't look my way! We heard our friend, Ryan Rupe, preach a good sermon. This is always a good way to start a day, dreary or not. We had a quick lunch at home, and then drove to Milwaukee Lutheran High School for another concert. Logan played with the Concert Band.

Musical Saturday (3/7/09)

Today was a busy day, filled with lots of music. This morning, Katherine had her first piano recital. She got to play on one of the grand pianos at church. She was the first one of five performers. Katherine was not nervous at all, but was excited about the whole thing. Here is a list of the music she played:

Tonight was the Saturday Band Concert for the elementary schools. There are three different groups: the Beginner Band, the Second Year Band, and the Kadet Band. Brett is in the Second Year Band. Since there is only one trumpet player for that group, Logan was asked to help out. He has been going to Saturday morning band sessions and joined in the concert tonight. Brett is in love! (2/28/09)

Brett is in love!

I'm guessing I have your attention. My eleven year old is in love with Georgia. She has brown, black, and white smooth hair.

Yesterday, I took Brett, Katherine, and Ella Rupe to the Wisconsin Kennel Club Dog Show at the WI State Fair Exposition Center. Daut, Sue, and Cyrus joined us for a while. There were some extremely funny looking dogs. There were some absolutely adorable dogs. Look at Georgia! Georgia is a two year old, miniature, smooth-haired Dachshund. We spent most of the day walking around, looking at dogs, and talking to owners about their dogs. Brett was so happy!
